While listening to the radio during the morning commute to work the broadcaster brought up something that had me stop and think. Real DVD is a $50 program that will ship later this month and will let customers copy a DVD they own to their hard drives, legally. Since they’re not defeating the encryption, they are not violating the DMCA, and are enabling customers to take make a legal backup of a movie as provided by fair use.
