I sometimes find it hard to post on social media when it comes to things that bother me or that I think need to change. It’s not because I have people following me, such as friends or family, who I’m worried about offending or upsetting. It is rather the opposite, actually. It seems rude to post tirades with those who already feel the same as I. Why do they need me to rehash some of the junk they’ve probably been discussing with me again? It’s the rest of the world who needs to hear this stuff. I’m not famous. I don’t have thousands of people following me. I’m just me, myself, and few others. I think I write this stuff for a couple of reasons. The first, I can vent and get stuff off my chest. I’ve always felt that if you keep it inside, things bubble and boil, getting worse and suddenly, like the saying goes; I’ve created a mountain out of a mole hill. For me, it is very therapeutic to write and get my thoughts out. Unfortunately, my friends and few followers take the brunt of it. Now the second reason, it’s a bit different. Let me explain. I love to wander around the web, internet, cloud, or whatever the current term is… I run into so many different and interesting topics that challenge, inspire, frustrate, and yet make me think. Here’s an example: I’ve been watching the whole Pharmaceutical CEO who was shot and killed with this weird unusual fascination. I firmly believe that if you take a life, other than to protect yourself, yours is now forfeit. Simple. I pay enough attention to events and real world drama, such as politics and other overly hyped topics, to be informed. However, this recent murder … puzzles me. I … can … sympathize … with the killer?!?! Why is that? I’ve not had problems with getting medications or had family cut off from health procedures. I’ve been fortunate not to have ever fought a pharmaceutical company for any reason. So, why am I so interested in this shooter? Is there something I am not dealing with in my own life? Am I harboring terrible thoughts? I don’t know how to answer those questions, so I keep watching as I learn more about myself. From these explorations, I’ve come to understand something about myself? All this “stuff” out there, the information people push and sling on to the Internet; you start to get a whole new perspective about, not just the topics being discussed, but the people creating these topics. So maybe, when someone stumbles across what I’ve added, they will find something helpful or, perhaps, a challenge to their own perspective. I feel, that’s what we are miss out on now days. We are worried so much about offending and saying the wrong thing. I know I am, I won’t lie. But I’m also, perhaps confident … or perhaps unfazed by the conundrum of worrying about drama in life. I say it many times, it’s my motto, “Drama is the spice of life. Without it, everything is just dull and flat.” I like things a bit spicy, a bit interesting, and a bit forward thinking. And if you’ve made it this far, I hope it resonates or challenges you to see things a little differently. It doesn’t have to be just my writing, but in anything you ingest into the grey matter floating around in your head. We all know what they say about wearing rose colored glasses, every now and then you might want to take them off and look around. Sure, it can be an ugly world at times, but just like adding a bit of salt and pepper to your meal, it can also be something very rewarding. So, speak up, throw a dash of spice into your life and embrace a bit of drama. You never know what you might discover.
